Sony DSC W1 Digital Camera Review

IT’S AMAZING…

A number of our customers have been asking over the past few years:

“What digital camera is most compatible and easy to use with your LE-Adapter?”

Although many cameras on the market are compatible with our products there has not been a camera introduced since the Nikon 4500 that we feel is a perfect match.

Well, finally someone did it with the introduction of the Sony DSC W1 and the newer Sony DSC W5.

These cameras features include:

  • 5.1 Megapixel (2592 x 1944)

  • 3X Optical Zoom Lens/2X Digital/6X Total Zoom

  • 2.5” LCD Monitor

  • Manual Exposure Mode

  • Selectable Focus Mode

  • 9 Shot Burst Mode for fast moving objects

  • MPEG Movie Mode

  • Ergonomically astute…its heavy (8oz)…yet small (3.6”x2.4”x1.4”) and fits your hand like a glove.

  • It has both “shutter preferred” as well as “aperture preferred” settings

For Digiscopers it has a mode that is truly unique...its called “Monitoring AF”

In this mode you need only to press the shutter button completely down and the picture is taken instantly. No longer is there a need to wait for the camera to focus…its truly point and shoot.

For coupling the Sony W1/5 to either our Standard LE-Adapter (Item #11037) or our
 2Plus LE-Adapter (Item #11237) all you need is the Sony W1/W5 Lens Mount (Item #17164).

The Sony W1/5 is totally LE-Adapter compatible. In most application including the use of microscopes, telescopes, spotting scopes, and night vision scopes vignetting is completely removed at approximately 2x optical zoom!!!!.

Whether your interest lies in microscopy, digibirding, or general photography I think you will find these cameras will exceed your expectations.
